Protect PDF Online with Password Encryption

InstaVibes Protect PDF is designed to add password-based security to PDF documents. A protected PDF can require a password when someone attempts to open the document. The tool also provides permission controls for printing, copying, annotations, forms and document modifications.

The protection workflow uses qpdf on the server to apply PDF encryption. When available, the tool uses AES-256 encryption support and does not claim that a document has been protected unless the encryption command successfully creates the output PDF.

What is a password-protected PDF?

A password-protected PDF is a PDF that uses encryption and password credentials to restrict access to the document. An opening password can prevent unauthorized users from viewing the document without the correct password. PDF permission settings can additionally control actions such as printing, copying or modification.

What can you control?

Depending on the selected settings, you can control printing, text and image extraction, annotations, form filling, page assembly and document modification. Accessibility extraction can also be enabled so assistive technologies can access document content where supported by the PDF viewer.

Keep your PDF password safe

InstaVibes does not provide a password-recovery service for protected PDFs created with this page. Keep a secure copy of the password. If you lose the opening password, you may not be able to access the encrypted document.
